Good Day, Bad Day: Life-affirming Levante & a spot of bother for Barca

Good Day

Levante
La Liga Loca suspected rather gloomily that Levante might choke when presented with the opportunity to move to the top of the table during SundayâÂÂs late game against Villarreal. This was partly because all sense of spirit and good will had been sucked from the blog during AtléticoâÂÂs 1-1 draw against Mallorca, but also due to the simple fact that winning six games in a row, which is what Levante needed to achieve to move to the summit, is more than challenging for any team, never mind one with the paltry resources of the Valencia-based club.
But Levante came though and were magnificent in the teamâÂÂs 3-0 win over Villarreal: precise, energetic, confident and lethal. In fact everything that the El Madrigal side werenâÂÂt. Levante moved to the top for the first time in the clubâÂÂs 102 year history and fully deserved it, too.
