The average age of Arsenal was 19?  Wasn't that a song by Paul Hardcastle?

I didn't see the whole game, but they really looked good.

They play fantastic football and if your good enough your old enough so i don't see why not. I think the league may have to wait a few years but i could see them winning one or both of the cups this season.

Me too. And I think that the slightly older Arsenal could win the league or CL this year.

    CARLOS VELA!!!!

Been waiting for him for ages Barca must be gutted they missed out on him who needs Dos Santos?

And what about Ramsey that lolipop back heel was just cheeky and what about Wiltshire?

They have great team I was just waiting for Wenger to unleash these lot, all these teams that spend large amounts of money just amazes me Wenger buys players for the price of a sticker book and they end up being worth more than a small island.

All the detractors ended up looking stupid last season, no matter what they had to say about Arsenal' league position because it was obvious to anyone not under the influence of media perceptions could see what was happening down at the Emirates.

It's early days yet but last night was another example of why price tags do not equal quality.

How much do you think last nights Arsenal squad cost? my wild guess is it was probably about the same as sheffield uniteds.

Im sure they could go all the way and win it, they're not kids either the more exp they gain the more effective they will become.

Sir Alex is defianetly the best manager ever but Wenger is the best ever in the transfer market and nurturing players no doubt.

I was just having this conversation at lunch. I dont think they can, Yes I did see the match and I'm sure Vela and Merida in particular will become top class players but in my opinon Arsenal's main weakness is their youth team.

I know the youth team consistently churn out top players but thats problem they never really get a top bunch of players at their full potential anymore as they either leave to find a better contract or a even better youth player comes around. Of course they used to have a good mix of youth and experience but now they're missing valuable experience so even though there are exceptions in this case I would say you win trophies just with kids

Wenger is a better manager than Fergie, he buys better/cheaper and changer everything about Arsenal, he made them healthy and fit and all that stuff

If Wenger was a better manager than Fergie then where are the trophies to show for it?  Very few of the talents at Arsene's desposal are of his own ilk.  Fabregas and Merida were from Barcelona, Carlos Vela is from Guadalajara, Walcott from Southampton, Ramsey from Cardiff, Fabianski from Legia Warsaw, aside from the Hoyte brothers and Jack Wilshire, there are very few that have come / are coming through the ranks that Wenger has raised from nut and acorn.

Cristiano Ronaldo was bowled over by his player of the year award.

Even though slow-motion replays showed that it clearly never touched him.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what do you mean "of his own ilk" and what is the counter case for Fergie?

Played superb and the "no fear" approach was refreshing infront of 50,000 home fans, great advert for the club and the youth polices but feel a tuff away trip in hard conditions may find them out

I don't think there's any danger of Arsenal winning the league this year.

We hear this every season, usually around Carling Cup time, about Arsenal's kids and how they're so good e.t.c. Yet each season they finish trophyless. This will be no different.

Out classed and out muscled by a forward thinking Hull side.  Proof, if it was needed, that the Arsenal youngsters have not yet matured, mentally or physically, enough to win the trophies with any consistancy.

Of course Arsenal can win it, they spent enough money to get that team.

Zero effort on home grown talent, zero English players most of the time, disgraceful.

Their only trouble is they try to be TOO pretty, try to walk it into the goal every time thats why they keep having games with

    80% possesion and yet lose

Heskey OUT! Downing, Barry, Upson, Johnson too! Stop picking mediocre players for the world stage!
