Subject: Current Best World XI
Heres some thoughts to start off
Casillas
Sergio Ramos Ferdinand Garay Evra
Essien Kaka Gerrard
Messi Berbatov Ronaldo (MUFC)
Subject: Re: Current Best World XI
Buffon; Zambrotta, Nesta, Cannavaro, A.Cole; Ronaldo, Makelele, Pirlo, Messi; Kaka; van Nistelrooy
That would be my choice. If Ronaldinho regained form, then I would put him in place of Pirlo.
Sergio Ramos Ferdinand Puyol Evra
Essien Gerrard Kaka
Ronaldo Messi
Torres
Casillas, Sergio Ramos, J Terry, R Ferdinand, R Carlos
Kaka, Ronaldinho, C Ronaldo
Messi, V Nistelrooy, Torres
Buffon, Sagna, Evra, Nesta, Rio, Fabregas, Ronaldo, Mascherano, Messi, RVN, Torres
Thats if 4-4-2 is used, I wanted to have Kaka, Toni, and Ribery but its difficult to find them space in this team.
Not being funny guys and no offence meant, but this thread was about the current best eleven in the world, and that would mean on form - some of these seem to be from 5 years ago! Roberto Carlos now he's at Fenerbache? Makelele who has looked a shadow of his former self? Garay is promising but I can think of a number of better centre backs while Cannavaro's form has been patchy. I'm not having a go, and I understand its all relative (Englishmen tend towards Premier League players, Italians towards Serie A etc.) but judging on form, these people don't deserve to be there. Not that im bold enough to give my own opinion - much easier to shoot others down! Sorry.
P.S. Except Casillas. It's always Casillas. Real would be SO screwed without him.
Surely Cech over Casillas? Even with the silly headgear!

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Cannavaro will show you in the summer why he's still one of the top centre-backs. And there still isn't anyone better at the holding role than Makelele in my opinion.
Ramos Ferdinand Richards Evra
hargreaves
C Ronaldo Kaka Messi
huntelar Torres
so what if huntelar is playing in holland he is scoring for fun
Richards?!? bit premature don't you think, plus don't you think that Vidic has been more impressive than Ferdinand this season?
Can nobody find room for Essien?
As a Man U fan I must admit I've never had complete faith in Van der Saar (god knows why not) so the keeper is a tough one.....maybe Friedel...he nearly put a spanner in the works last Saturday for us! Then Evra, Ferdinand, Ramos and Alves in defence; the two Spanish based lads would guarantee you at least ten goals between them a season.
Then Iniesta because a few guys i know who actually play in midfield rate him A LOT! I'd put Fabregas in beside him, then Ronaldo and Messi attacking from out wide......and finally Rooney in the hole with Torres up front!
This selection might be different but I have not seen enough of the Real Madrid team this season......so feel free to educate me about them.
I like Vinny's selection - Alves is a given for any best team. And as for Astafjevs, I agree that form is temporary and class is permanent but you've really missed the point. CURRENT best eleven. That means based on form. If you say Cannavaro needs until the summer to show me why he's still good, then its an admission he's not on top form and QED he's not CURRENTLY one of the best. The problem is also that you suggest you would only put Ronaldinho in if he 'regained form'. So surely this applies to Cannavaro as well? Thats not meant in a narky way, just a point, interested to hear the justification. And Essien is better than Makelele in the 'Makelele' role, if a little more dynamic.
I don't think Cannavaro's playing too badly. If he wasn't playing well, Madrid would drop him. Alves can't defend, hence why I didn't pick him. And Makelele is a master at the holding role - bags of experience and still getting in Chelsea's team for the big occasions.
