GK: Van Der Sar (with Foster edging in as the season goes on)

RB:  Neville (United Legend but needs replacing now)

    LB:  Patrice Evra

    CB:  Rio Ferdinand

    CB:  Nemanja Vidic

    RM:  Cristiano Ronaldo

LM:  Luis Nani (Giggs is past his prime now and needs to be phased out)

CM:  Anderson (Scholes also past it)

    CM:  Michael Carrick

    ST:  Wayne Rooney

    ST:  Carlos Tevez

Would like to see Daniel Alves, Miguel Veloso and David Villa / Klaas Jan Huntelaar brought in.  It's plain we need strengthening in the forwards area and it's plain that we need a midfielder to cover for the aging legs of Giggs and Scholes, Neville is also too old to hold down his place and too many injuries have taken their tole.

Cristiano Ronaldo was bowled over by his player of the year award.

Even though slow-motion replays showed that it clearly never touched him.

Foster should step in as first choice from the start of pre season as far as I'm concerned, VDS's distribution has been a constant worry to me. Kazy pundits still refer to the guy as a good footballing keeper despite the mass of controvening evidence. Right back version of Evra would be ideal, Alves, Lahm... Personal favourite would be Sergio Ramos but that isn't going to happen. A striker seems likely, Berbatov would be my personal favourite, the only player in the modern game who plays with the same style as Cantona.

Luis Fabiano is apparently our top target, i wouldn't be upset if we signed him, 33 goals in La Liga this season is pretty damn good.

He's only scored 24 goals in La Liga. The papers are reporting 33 to make it sound like an even better transfer target. 33 is the number he has got in all competitions.

Not as decent as I thought then but that's still no mean feat.

No it's pretty good. He's not actually the top scorer in that league, that title belongs to Daniel Guiza on 26 goals. Ronaldo looks a shoe-in for the Golden Shoe it seems.

A right back is required as Wes Brown is a much better centre back than he is at right back. An out and out centre forward is needed to ease pressure on United's current forwards. Although if Ronaldo can carry on his lethal finishing.

What Manchester does today, the world does tomorrow.

Very true, would like to see some more attacking bite from our central midfield pair though.

plenty of attack from alves and evra and hargreaves would be ideal to sit and cover, anderson will be a massive player for man u next year, all he needs is to add goals

It was always good to have a goalscoring center mid, Paul Scholes in his prime was always a reliable source of goals, our current crop of central players are all very technical and rather defensive, we have little attacking flair and drive from any of them.

Hope we don't go for Fabiano. People say Berbs wouldn't like sitting on the bench behind Tevez and Rooney. Fabiano would be worse IMO, hasn't got a great attitude. Got in a huff after being subbed a few weeks ago. If he were avaliable for the 7/8 Million price tag being quoted, than I'd say its worth a punt though. Benzema should still be our primary target IMO. I know he's said he wouldn't fancy a move to England, but lets see what he says when an offer is there in front of him. Benzema/Berbatov/Mario Gomez in that order please.

A right back is a concern too, but I wouldn't be suprised if we didn't sign one. Brown has done a decent job, Hargreaves has provided very good cover and there is the little concern of our captain returning next season. Plus I think SAF will want to monitor the progress of Danny Simpson and Rafael from the reserves before splashing the cash. Having said that, if we were to move for Lahm I'd be delighted.

Veloso is not needed. Our midfield is packed already. Gerrard Pique is capable of playing the holding role too (I guess thats for another thread though) and Rodrigo Possebon from the Reserves looks to be a cracking player, also in the same mould as Veloso. Rather we took a chance on him than paying for someone who has looked average this season.

Ben Foster for Van der Sar and Philip Lahm for Neville/Brown will probably be the only major changes at old trafford
