Hold on a moment. Champions league football and one of England's biggest grounds. A gigantic support base which stretches Tyneside, some of Durham and all of Northumberland. There are not many clubs as big as Newcastle United in the world and Tottenham are not one.

This War has gone on for too long I suggest Sibluko, safcrhys and 1981rt sign a peace treaty so this tedious argument does not pass the 50th page.

Oh, my dear, dear friends. Please don't squabble over each others "proud history" which is indeed just that - history. Now is the time, not for reflection, but to look ahead to the future. Which at the moment, does not look exactly sh*t hot for any of you. Spurs are in the middle of a confidence crisis which may yet lead to our little Spanish friends departure along with half of Comolli's crew. Keane has squandered a ridiculous amount of cash on a squad at best, top 12. They too, are now away to be infected with foreign cash - which will eventually plunge them deeper into debt. Newcastle's troubles are well documented and at the moment, the club is in total disarray and heading for possible relegation. Forget 1981RT,s rants because he is really shitting himself at the moment, just like the majority of his city right now. The fact is, the whole Premiership is deep in the debt mire, with no easy way out. Focus on that and not who won more trophies 30 years ago.

I agree with you about Newcastle and Tottenham but I must argue against your stupid claim that Keane has wasted money.

Firstly, it was necessaey to spend big in order to keep us up and then to progress, I would rather he spends money and helps us push for a European place in the coming years. So your argument has no purpose, Sunderland are a big club with big ambitions. And you should see that.

Oh and 1981rt Spurs are bigger than Newcastle.

Sunderland lost 16 in a row, played Preston away in the Championship and 1400 went.

Newcastle lost 4 in a row, played Everton away in the Premier League and 900 went.

He slates me for talking about the past, 1981rt, you were last in the Champions League in 2003 for gods sake, you overachieved for 2 seasons under Bobby Robson before things went back to normal, you are not a big club! Even Newcastle fans with half a brain agree with me, you're the only one who doesn't seem capable of taking the truth! If you were such a big club then players like Schweinsteiger and Modric would not have rejected you, for gods sake even Anton Ferdinand rejected you and eventually came to your arch-rivals Sunderland.

For gods sake just admit it! I wish I never started this thread anymore, if I have to get more Mackems to sign up to here and shut you up then I will, SO FRUSTRATING! Just take the truth!

You really should read your own signature footnote, matey - Sunderland's last major honour was 35 years ago. By attempting to mock 1981rt, you have basically morphed into him. You and him are two peas in a pond, both dilusional to the extreme. What about all the clubs in England who have won trophies since either of you last won anything - are they "big institutions" too?

Hi Barky, the unusual thing about this discussion is the prominence of Sunderland as a central theme. This particular forum is about Newcastle United football club exclusively.

( I particularly like that honers list he continues to add to posts)

Ok then, lets change it to 'Sunderland - Deluded'  I really cant put my argument across any more clearly than I have about my particular footballing heavyweight. Maybe we should start discussing the lesser graded outfits. Would be a nice change...?

    1. It's actually about how Newcastle United fans (i.e. YOU) are deluded.

    2. You still haven't said where your CHampions League remark came from.

    3. Newcastle isn't a footballing heavyweight.

    4. Neither is Sunderland but he isn't claiming it to be.

    5. Last I checked, you were in the relegation places, 3 points and 4 goals behind Sunderland, who are safely nestled in 14th.

I claimed that Sunderland have a proud history, and are a big club, but I never said that we were a footballing heavyweight, how can we be when we haven't won a major trophy in over 35 years? A 'major footballing outfit' as 1981rt put it is a club that consistently dominate the domestic game and constantly does well in Europe, i.e. Manchester United. Last time I checked Newcastle are not consistently dominating the domestic game let alone Europe. So your argument just embarrasses you.

You are basically trying to say that Newcastle are on par with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool and that is what is so frustrating 1981rt, for god's sake take a look at yourselves, you are in 19th place and haven't won a match since a narrow victory over Bolton. Spurs only win this campaign came against you at a half empty St James' park. So how are Newcastle on par with the Man Utd's and Liverpool's of this world?

Sunderland lost 16 in a row, played Preston away in the Championship and 1400 went.

Newcastle lost 4 in a row, played Everton away in the Premier League and 900 went.
