    Giovanni:

Ok, so now i must ask you.. club and manager preference aside, would you agree with me that Flamini had a better season with arsenal last season than Rino did with AC? Flamini should start ahead of both Gattuso and Ambrosini, captain status or not the best players should be on the pitch- not the bench because of situational circumstances that says they should play caus they're captains.

However like Ac Milan, Real Madrid also has a history of favouritism in starting team captains when they arent playing particularly well. I agree that from 2004 to mid 2006 Raul, and Guti should have been spending more time on the bench because their form was appauling. Especially with Raul- No players place in a side should be concrete, this allows for complacency as they know that if they play badly it wont matter. Its a tough situation

Yeh Flamini had a better season than Gattuso last year. However, Gattuso is the better player. I think to put a player in the starting-11 based on one good season, in another country, isn't the way to go. He has to prove himself.

Sorry Aftafjevs- i fear he is right. If you can get over your bias, you will see that Flamini should start ahead of Gattuso, no doubt..

Lets not be too hasty here.. I concede that last season flamini was better than Gattuso. But i do not agree that flamini could be better than Rino when both are playing at their best. Flamini is a great player but fails incomparison to the terror that is gattuso, flamini wins possesion and is very disaplined but gattuso closes out the midflied, stamps and seals it and call it his own. When gattuso is in midfield it's like watching a starved dog going after a piece of meat, unrelanting, uncaring, terrifying and harder than a coffinnail. Gattuso is true Italian Steel, unwavering and dependable in all conditions. Flamini doesn't really get stuck in as  gattuso. Point is that i rather stick to real Italian Steel than imported ones living under the same label but not the same quality.

Anyone who thinks Flamini is a better player than Gattuso clearly doesn't watch much football.

Gattuso couldn't score a goal against Derby.

That's ok. Gattuso's job isn't to score goals, it's to break up the play. Hence, why he is a holding midfielder. Goalscoring is not his remit, never has been and never will be.

Long range shooting isnt a bad attribute for a CDM to have.. it adds another dimension to players like Flamini and Essien and Patrick Viera( who admittedly is better inside the area.) Football is evolving and is not as much about one-dimensional players as it used to be, to have the edge, you need versatile players for example Full backs that make at least 5 assists a season or centre-backs that chip in with a few goals. What use is Gattuso if he is really only good at one thing. Flamini may not be a better tackler than Gattuso, but he doesnt need to be if milan play a central midfield double pivot. Flamini can however pass and score and has just as much stamina to work hard the full 90minutes as does gattuso. And excuse me, i do watch enough football.. and its not only SerieA, which allows me to not be bias in weighing up players abbilities because of loyalties.

I watch more than Serie A too, I can assure you Gattuso is a better player. Being able to shoot from long distances doesn't put Flamini ahead of him.

No way, Gattuso is a useless player and I wouldn't buy him for £10 million pounds.

     Ha Ha

True but Flamini has better technique and a lot of energy just like Gattuso does can put himself about also when you throw in Flamini's ability to shoot you could then say that Milan are planning for life without Gattuso now if only they could get some defenders.

Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense

Gattuso is as scary as a kitten. But, at his best is probably better than Flamini.

Gattuso is magic. Flamini is for the future.
