Subject: Is Man City Becoming A Club To Fear? The New Chelsea?

Check out this article and lets hear your thoughts.

New Manchester City owner Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim is prepared to fund a £135 million offer for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo in January.

Al-Fahim has revealed that his Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) company, who are set to take full control of City in the coming weeks, are serious about bringing the best players in the world to the City of Manchester Stadium.

And that includes Ronaldo, despite the fact he plays for City’s rivals United and seems destined for a future move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Al-Fahim is up to ten times richer than Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and according to some reports and is targeting a list of 18 players as potential transfer targets. It is reported that in a day of drama yesterday, City had offers totalling €300 million in bids for players around the world.

Speaking to The Guardian today, Al-Fahim revealed that he is serious about helping City to become the biggest football club in the world and plans to prove it with a bid for Ronaldo in January.

"Ronaldo has said he wants to play for the biggest club in the world, so we will see in January if he is serious," he stated.

"Real Madrid were estimating his value at $160 million (roughly £90m) but for a player like that, to actually get him, will cost a lot more; I would think $240 million (£135m). But why not? We are going to be the biggest club in the world, bigger than both Real Madrid and Manchester United."

Sky Sports News reported earlier today that Liverpool’s Fernando Torres and Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas were also bold targets of Al-Fahim, although it remains to be seen if City yet have the draw to attract such players.

In an incredible day yesterday, ADUG’s proposed takeover of the club was announced this morning and following a frantic day of negotiations, which also saw offers tabled for Valencia’s David Villa and new United signing Dimitar Berbatov, their British record £32.5 million capture of Robinho was announced two minutes before the midnight transfer deadline.

Well, they arent afraid to spend and they probably wont get Ronaldo, but they are still becoming a major force out there. Quite intimidating.

I just hate these foreign investors, it would take the joy out of the game if Man City can just get anyone. There should be a maximum amount of money you can spend in every transfer window because over a hundred million for any player is madness!

What Hartlepool does today, the World did about 3 weeks ago.

The sad fact is that for any team to be able to compete with the big-4, this kind of thing has to happen. That's says more about the state of the Premier League than anything else.

Yes teams should start worring if they are still going to have there star players by next season but i think united will keep all of there players apart from ronaldo who is off to madrid in jan onless utd want to let him go on a free at the end of the season but players like drogba will be more than willing to sell hes soul for the right amount of cash, city could look something like this by the end of the season......would the top 4 fear this lineup?

Ronaldo still has about 5 years left on his current contract so I don't know why United would sell him in January. As for Man City, they are my new 'hate' club, call it jealously if you want, but its not just that, the Premier League is ruined. We could predict the top 4 before but now we can predict the top 5. A cap should be put on transfer fee's. No more than £40 million should be allowed to be spent on transfers from next season.

Sunderland lost 16 in a row, played Preston away in the Championship and 1400 went.

Newcastle lost 4 in a row, played Everton away in the Premier League and 900 went.

They tell us we have shite fans...

Your pairing of Elano & Kaka in midfield would ensure that your team would get bullied in the premier league plus Lahm is a crap defender especialy at centre back and get's bullied regularly.

I'm not trying to squash your love of city although I did'nt realise you were a fan of City but please be realistic the man that actualy controls the purse strings has decided to take charge personaly as he understands that throwing money around does'nt build success although it can help improve upon certain areas infastructure is one thing, but the signs look good.

It will take 2 seasons at least before you can realisticly challenge for the title so dont get too excited.

*Remembers when Serie A tried the Buy Buy Buy mentality looks at it now*

*Sees loads of paid dinosaurs and hardly any youth players getting a chance*

But I will say I'm disgusted that people think to win the league you need the best players thats a myth, Fegie showed you that at Aberdeen, Mourinho demonstrated this at Porto- You make money through:

    Focus.

    Detrmination.

Constantly honing the skills you have and aquiring new ones.

    Willingness to learn.

    Humility.

How long do you think it took for City's investors to amass their fortune?

How long would it take for them to lose it?  *hint*

The Premier League:  is heading for a crash

Mourinho won the Portuguese league with Porto because they had the best players. To suggest otherwise is wide of the mark.

Of course, but he only mentioned Mourinho at Porto in his post, so I only mentioned that example.

Mourinho was'nt the only person I mentioned but then this is the second time that you have failed to read one of my posts properly and take, what I have written out of context.

By the way at Porto Mourinho did'nt have the best players ability wise but what they lacked in ability they made up for with hard grit and determination and pure will to win and if we mention Chelsea that proves my point further.

Fact: Price tags do not mean your getting the best player(s)
