Subject: Time for Ancelotti to go?

Before I start I would like to apoligise if I'm being ignorant or stupid but AC Milan fans would definatley not be impressed with the performance of AC Milan last season and I think they may need a new manager with fresh ideas. Its not that I dont rate him because through the years he has made AC Milan play consistently well.  But after last season its seems he is out of fresh ideas and maybe a younger manager could gewt AC Milan playing well. But I know there are some people in this forum who have a better knowledge of Italian so what is the verdict?

Is it time for Ancelotti to leave A.C Milan?

There's no ignorance whatsoever in your post, and it's an issue that many people have different opinions on, both in Italy and abroad.

One school of thought goes with what you suggested, that Ancelotti has been there too long and that a new coach is needed to inject new ideas. The players may be getting complacent under his management e.t.c.

Personally, I don't subscribe to that. You look at England, and you see people like Ferguson and Wenger who have enjoyed success and have both been at their respective clubs for some time. Fergie has had some poor seasons, in particular from 2003 to 2007 when they didn't win a league title. There were calls for him to be sacked and yet he was trusted and has built a new side.

This is why I want Carletto to stay. We're a family club, so to speak. A lot of the back room staff are former players, and they all know the club and its ethos inside out. Besides, who would we get if he did leave? Who is there that is actually good enough?

I also don't believe the current situation is entirely his fault. I'm not convinced all of the players that arrived in the summer were players he wanted. There's also the age of the squad - which has been allowed to creep up year upon year without being addressed. It has left us in the situation we are in now, where 90% of players are now getting too old and wholesale surgery needs performing to the squad. One area he does need to look at, and where he is partly responsible for the mess, is the system and players he's picking. Playing 4-3-2-1 will only work if we play an attacking midfielder in the 3. Flamini, Pirlo, Ambrosini are all defensive players. Asking one of them to attack is rubbish because they won't be as good as a proper attacking midfielder. As it is, we have Inzaghi, then Kaka & Ronaldinho behind him, then a gap, then the midfield three. Very easy to defend against.

Our best system is a 4-3-1-2, with Kaka in behind. He refuses to use this until we're actually losing a match though.

He has'nt been there too long at all hes a wily old fox he always has something up his sleeve.

Milan has some youth players with potential and eveybodys favourite goal hanger lol, 3 stikers in Pato, Borriello, Paloschi who have the world at their feet plus the magic of 2 fantistas and the wisdom of the elder statesmen a la Maldini, Seedorf, Nesta creates a wonderful enviroment to build a squad for the future.

But yes the age is an issue Its crazy watching Bundesliga with two italians playing for wolfsburg pssst... who could I be talking about?

Plus you still got Maldini's sons to come through.

I didnt even mention Cardacio & Viudez.

Stop worrying this year will be the start the rebirth.

    .

** But on a side note If Philippe Senderos is the answer what was the question?

There is rumours that if Ancelotti did go that Spalletti could get the job. Would he be a worthy replacement?

I wouldn't mind Spalletti at all. Funnily enough, he's the only person managing in Serie A at the moment who would be willing to move from his current club and good enough to take over if Ancelotti left.

Speaking of Roma, how embarrased were the Italian public after the 2-1 loss against CF Cluj? Was it manager or players fault?

Difficult to say. Roma were missing loads of players. Mexes, Juan, Perrotta, Pizarro and Totti were all injured. For a squad of such a limited size, Roma can't really afford to lose so many players.

Then again, the team they did put out were more than good enough to see off Cluj. It was a pathetic performance. Depending on what you read, it will either be the managers fault, or just the fact they were missing key players.

Ancelotti may of saved himslef after Milan thrashed Lazio. Does Astafjevs know  who the top performers in that game as well as if he thinks this match will stop all critics calling for Ancelotti to go?

I posted this earlier in the thread. We have played 2 games, against Lazio and Reggina. We have won both of those games. What factor links them both? We started the game with a 4-3-1-2. It is so very simple. I have been saying it for a long time. I think Ancelotti knows that this is the best way of playing. It worked a treat against Lazio, and in answer to your question Kaka was the best player that night. Absolutely superb.

He played the same system against Reggina, and again we win. It's not rocket science. We play 4-3-1-2, we win more games. Borriello (who's been brilliant so far this season) is injured for the Milan derby. So we're likely to have to endure Shevchenko up-front, which isn't quite the same.
