    Who have been / are the best ever foreign players in the history of British football?

     

    I'll throw in:

     

    Gianfranco Zola

    Thierry Henry

    Cristiano Ronaldo

    Bert Trautmann

    Eric Cantona

    Ossie Ardiles

     

    Who else are worthy contenders???

    I'm a Liverpool fan and it's suprising how few good foreigners Liverpool have had. The only ones that would make this list for me are:

    Fernando Torres

    Dietmar Hamann

    Jan Molby

    Bruce Grobelaar 

    Litmanen was great, but didn't play much. Reina is a cracking keeper, too, and Alonso / Mascherano have enough promise to be added to the list.

    Out of those, only Torres (and it's early days) and Molby were truly top, top class.

    I'll chuck Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira and Marcel Desailly into the ring. How about Fabrizio Ravenelli and Juninho from their Middlesbrough pomps and Georgi (spelling?) Kinkladze?

    I'd go for Henrik Larsson, proved that he could cut it at the top level with Barcelona and Man Utd after scoring goals for fun in Scotland. Faustino Asprilla and David Ginola must be contenders as well surely?

     John Giles, Paul McGrath, Liam Brady, Steve Heighway, Roy Keane to name only Irsih players. Then there's Henry, Bergkamp, Zola, Larsson, Schmeichel, Cantona, Ardilles, Villa plus more.

     dose no-one remember ricky villa.........plus has anyone said robbie keane.wat he did for spurz in the last 5 years is astounding
