    Subject: Most overrated player

An article in the times today asked this question and got me thinking. Being a forest, Marlon king is my choice, he tries but never achives on the highest level.

I think that Wayne Rooney is overrated. If he was the wonder kid that everybody says he is then he would bag 40 goals a season. last season he scored only 23 whereas Drogba scored a supurb 33. That is 10 more than Wayne, I dont understand why he gets all the glory and to most people he is the best player in the world.

To be fair, he isn't an out-and-out striker like Drogba. He plays just behind the front man, and has shown in the past that's his best position. Nevertheless, I see your point.

John Terry for me is vastly overrated.

I disagree with your point, John Terry gives 100% in evrey game he plays for club and country. Thats why he is Chelsea and the real England captain. I personally dont think he is as gd as Ricardo Carvalho, but u cant quesion the ability of John Terry. He has earned the name he has got today.

Paul Robinson, of West Brom, gives 100% in every game he plays. By that token, he should also be rated as highly as John Terry. He isn't though, because giving 100% hasn't led to John Terry being rated as highly as he is, it's his perceived ability as a defender - which I don't think is as good as people make out.

I think terry is overated, without Cech, Chelsea are vunerable with or without terry. Rio Ferdinand ,Carragher and even Gallas are better than him

Two players who, although young, appear to have already been overrated. John Obi Mikel has seriously failed to live up to his reported £10m price tag, in my eyes. He rarely goes forward, and looks vulnerable at the back in the crucial holding role. 3 red cards this season doesn't say to me that he's difficult to get past. Walcott may only have just turned 19 yesterday, but look at what really quality players had done by that age. Rooney burst onto the scene and hasn't left since he was 16, and Lionel Messi is possibly the best player in world football at present. He's 20. Age isn't an issue any more, and more ought to be expected of Walcott.

John Obi Mikel, is probably Under-Rated. He does a great job for Chelsea and is shaping up to be the new makelele, if he already hasnt.

Walcott moved too early in my opinion. Should have spent another season developing at Soton.

£10m for Mikel? Mascherano is only 2 years older, only £6m more, and has everything. Strong, tough tackler (without the red cards), scored at the weekend, and looks so solid every game. If Chelsea have all the money in the world, why spend it on Mikel? If they wanted a top quality player, they missed out on it, and if they wanted a youngstar, why not just bring one through the youth team?

Chelsea's youth system is fairly poor to be honest. It hasn't produced too many quality players in the past, let alone ones good enough for their current squad.

I agree, Mascherano is world class, amazing why west ham didnt use him when they had him. Mikel is decent, I dont think he is overated because no one really talks about him, its only the price tag of 10m and it was only that high because Chelsea were involved

Yh thats true with the price tag. I would rather have mikel in my team. He can do all those things too. Getting in the Chelsea side is tough and i dont think Mascherano is good enough. Plus he is hardly a regular scorer for Liverpool.

Exactly. I think it's a bit harsh to look at his scoring record. He's a holding player, so he won't get forward that often.
