Chelsea join hunt for Serie A-seeking Dzeko

442 Staff - Wednesday 20 May 2009, 15:13

Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko has revealed Chelsea have made contact with his agent over a summer move to Stamford Bridge.

However, the Bundesliga goal-machine says he would be willing to snub a move to the Premier League in favour of joining either Juventus or AC Milan.

The Bosnian front-man has hit 25 goals in 28 league outings in 2008/09 to help fire Wolfsburg to the brink of a first ever German league crown.

His devastating form is believed to be interesting a string of English big-hitters including Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, with the latter's first-team coach Boro Primorac admitting earlier in the season that the Gunners were monitoring the progress of the 23-year-old.

And the striker has revealed that it is Roman Abramovich's Blues who have made first contact over a proposed transfer to the Premier League, adding that his preferred destination is Italy.

“I know that Chelsea want me and they have already spoken to my agent with Wolfsburg," he said.

“It’s too early to talk about the market, my dream is to play in the Italian league, especially with AC Milan or Juventus.”
