Tuncay reveals Liverpool appeal

442 Staff - Thursday 04 June 2009, 16:01

Middlesbrough striker Tuncay Sanli says he would be interested in joining Liverpool.

The 27-year-old Turkish international - who has scored 19 times for his country - is expected to leave the Riverside Stadium outfit this summer following the club's relegation to the Championship.

And with the former Fenerbahce man having netted 15 league goals for Gareth Southgate's side since arriving in 2007 - including several acrobatic efforts - interest in his services is likely to be widespread.

Liverpool and Fulham are just two of the clubs being linked with his signature during the close-season.

And the striker has admitted the prospect of playing for Rafael Benitez's side and partnering Fernando Torres in attack is an exciting one.

"Yes, I've heard something about that but nothing official has arrived to me," he said.

"Of course I would like to play for a big club."
