Toffees to trump Arsenal for Matuidi?

442 Staff - Monday 15 June 2009, 17:14

Reported Arsenal target Blaise Matuidi could be set for a summer switch to Everton, according to the French media.

The 22-year-old has made more than 50 appearances in all competitions for the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard outfit since arriving from Troyes in 2007, and earned caps at both French U19 and U21 level, making 19 outings for the latter.

And the starlet has made no secret of his desire to play under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, recently telling skysports.com:

“I am interested in playing abroad. I would like to test myself in one of the two best leagues in the world.

“However, my club would have to be fine with everything. I owe them a lot.

“Playing for Arsenal would be fantastic but I can’t say anything about that yet. Everyone knows their wonderful style of football.”

However, Matuidi - who is also believed to be interesting Tottenham - could yet be plying his trade in the Premier League next season for David Moyes' Toffees.

Reports in France suggest the Goodison Park outfit are currently favourites to land the highly-rated midfielder's signature.
