Birmingham bid to bring in Vieira

Birmingham City have launched an ambitious swoop to sign former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira from Inter Milan. Chairman David Gold has revealed that City have held talks with Vieira's representatives, but conceded that it will be a considerable challenge to attract the experienced French international to the club.

Far from being deterred by the size of the task at hand, Gold is relishing the prospect of a signing that would be on a par with the signing of Vieira's former international team-mate Christophe Dugarry six years ago.

"We have pulled rabbits out of the hat before and we want to do it again, but you can’t do these things unless you try," he said as reported by the Daily Mail.
