Inler unaware of Arsenal interest

442 Staff - Friday 10 July 2009, 15:35

Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler says he is unaware of interest from Arsenal in his services this summer, despite reports linking him with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

The Swiss international, who has made 43 league appearances for the Serie A side since arriving from FC Zurich in 2007, had been tipped to join the Gunners, with manager Arsene Wenger believed to be a keen admirer of the 25-year-old.

However, according to the player's representitive Dino Lamberti, the Frenchman shelved plans to add the holding midfielder to his armoury, with Fiorentina enforcer Felipe Melo believed to be higher up on Wenger's wish-list.

Melo now appears set to complete a switch to Juventus instead of Arsenal.

But Inler insists that, unless he is told otherwise, he will be plying his trade in Italy for Udinese in 2009/10.

"I don't know anything. I'm only thinking about Udinese and the rest I leave to my agent," he said.

"I have four years left on my contract. I am an Udinese player and I want to give my best for this club."
