Robinho suffers stress fracture setback

Reuters - Thursday 22 October 2009, 16:11

Brazil striker Robinho will be out of action for a further two weeks after a setback in his recovery from a stress fracture, Manchester City manager Mark Hughes said on Thursday.

Robinho - who has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks - has not played since August because of the ankle injury and will not be rushed back into action.

"Robi is 10-14 days away because his stress fracture has not healed as anticipated," Hughes told the club's website.

"We want to err on the side of caution with him but he is OK. Of course he is frustrated that he cannot play but otherwise his mindset is fine.

"Any rumours linking him with a move away are a non-story. He will be back soon and I expect him to have a big part to play.

"He had an exceptional season last season in a difficult campaign for the club. We are a better team now and I believe he will have an even greater more positive impact."

Captain Kolo Toure is set to return for Sunday's game against Fulham after missing last week's draw at Wigan Athletic.
