Ferguson statement: No new job lined up

Departed Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson - son of Manchester United supremo Sir Alex - has insisted he does not have a new position lined up, contrary to comments made by Posh Director of Football Barry Fry.
United released a statement on Tuesday evening announcing that Ferguson had left the club by mutual consent, with Fry later revealing that another club had attempted to unsettle their highly-rated boss.
However, in his own statement issued by the League Managers Association, the 37-year-old stated he has no plans for the immediate future, while thanking Peterborough and the club's fans for his successful tenure at London Road.
“Following the recent departure of myself and Kevin Russell from Peterborough United we would like to express our thanks to the following people," the statement reads.
"Firstly, the players past and present, they have been magnificent throughout, showing both commitment and loyalty, their efforts have been immeasurable.
"Our staff at the club who have supported us in so many ways from behind the scenes and have never gone unnoticed.
"I would also personally like to thank the chairman, Darragh Mcanthony for giving me a fantastic opportunity to start my management career.
"The fans, without whom, none of this would have been possible. Home and away the amazing support for the club from supporters has driven us to back to back promotions.
"The scenes at Hereford United and Colchester United where we celebrated both promotions will remain with us for the rest of our lives.
"Three years ago we arrived at Peterborough United, a League two club; we left yesterday having taken them to the Championship and we wish the club all the best for the future.
"Unfortunately, Barry Fry has today intimated that I already have a new position in place.
"I can categorically confirm that is 100% untrue. However, these comments have not impacted upon my feelings towards my time at Peterborough United, the players, the Chairman and the supporters of the club.”
