Arsenal linked with Misimovic move

442 Staff - Thursday 12 November 2009, 17:23

Arsenal are keeping tabs on VfL Wolfsburg midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic, according to reports.

The 27-year-old has made 45 league appearances for the Bundesliga side since arriving from Nuremburg last summer, and was influential in the club's title triumph last season.

As a result, the Bosnian international - dubbed the 'new Fabregas' is being lined up as a replacement for the Spaniard, who is continually being linked with a move to Barcelona, according to the News of the World.

The report claims that Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger has made Misimovic one of his primary transfer targets should Fabregas seal a return to his former club next summer.

However, the Wolves are unlikely to settle for anything less than 15 million euros for their playmaker, who is contracted to the the club until summer 2013.

And the player himself has insisted he is not currently concerning himself with transfer speculation, as Bosnia's upcoming World Cup play-off with Portugal is at the forefront of his mind.

"Nobody has contacted me about a possible transfer," he told Kicker.

"I’m not really interested in transfer rumours at the moment. The upcoming World Cup play-offs against Portugal are all that concern me right now.”
