Cudicini set for 12 weeks on crutches

Reuters - Saturday 14 November 2009, 17:23

LONDON - Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini will be on crutches for around 12 weeks after having surgery on injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash, the club said on Saturday.

The 36-year-old Italian broke both wrists and damaged his pelvis when his motorbike collided with a car in Walthamstow, London on Thursday.

"Both specialists are extremely pleased with the result (of the surgery) and expect a good recovery," the club's head of medical services Wayne Diesel told the team's website.

"Carlo is in a lot less discomfort than before the operations and is in good spirits. The splint on his left wrist has been removed and he now has full use of this wrist.

"He will remain in hospital for a few more days and then be on forearm crutches for about 12 weeks," added Diesel.

Cudicini moved from Chelsea to Spurs in January and recently had a run in the first team following an injury to first choice keeper Heurelho Gomes.
