Arsenal considering Pavlyuchenko swoop

442 Staff - Wednesday 09 December 2009, 01:23

Want-away Tottenham Hotspur striker Roman Pavlyuchenko could be on his way across North London to Arsenal in January, according to the players’ agent.

The 27 year-old Russian international has only appeared for Harry Redknapp’s side six times this season after falling down the pecking order behind Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane.

And with Arsenal currently without the services of injured forwards Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo, a move for Andrei Arshavin’s international team-mate Pavlyuchenko is being considered by Arsene Wenger, according to Oleg Artemov.

However, the player's representitive revealed that Arsenal are not the only club showing interest in the 6ft 2in striker.

“We are not happy about his situation at Tottenham, so we’ll do everything to ensure that he can change club in January," he told tuttomercatoweb.

“There are contacts with Roma, but for now only by phone.

“Interested in the player are also Spartak Moscow, Arsenal and Zenit [St Petersburg], anything can happen.”
