Bayern keen to sign Senderos

442 Staff - Thursday 17 December 2009, 17:02

Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal’s out-of-favour defender Philippe Senderos during the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Italian giants AC Milan and could be set to leave the Gunners on a permanent basis in the New Year, according to the Mirror.

Senderos has continued to find chances with Arsenal limited this term, making just two appearances so far in 2009/10 - both in the League Cup.

And the Swiss international has fallen further down the pecking order following the Gunners' summer acquisition of Thomas Vermaelen, meaning he is eager to gain regular first-team action ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Meanwhile, Bayern boss Louis van Gaal is expected to offload Brazilian youngster Breno on a temporary basis, with Senderos being tipped as the ideal replacement.
