Arsenel mull Traore move

442 Staff - Tuesday 12 January 2010, 15:28

Arsenal are weighing up a move for CFR Cluj starlet Lacina Traore, according to reports in Europe.

The giant 19-year-old Ivorian has netted five goals in 18 league appearances for the Romanian outfit since arriving from Stade d'Abidjan in his homeland in 2008, helping the club win both the Romanian Cup and Supercup last year.

And as a result, the 6ft 8in striker has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium to team up with fellow countryman Emmanuel Eboue.

Cluj are believed to want a fee in the region of €4 million for Traore's services.

Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger has made no secret of his desire to sign a new striker during the January transfer window following the loss of Robin van Persie, Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo through injury.

Among the many forwards tipped to join Arsenal are Bordeaux's Marouane Chamakh, Carlton Cole of West Ham, AC Milan's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and, more recently, Louis Saha of Everton.
