Agent slams Vidic speculation

442 Staff - Tuesday 09 February 2010, 15:36

The agent of Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has quashed reports that the Serbian could soon be heading out of Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old - voted the Red Devils’ player of the year in 2008/09 - joined the Premier League champions in 2006 and has since established himself as one of the best defenders in Europe, with his partnership alongside Rio Ferdinand helping United to three successive league titles and one Champions League crown.

However, the stopper has endured an injury-ravaged 2009/10, restricting him to just 13 league starts, while newspaper reports have suggested that the former Spartak Moscow man has fallen out with manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

As a result, speculation has surfaced tipping AC Milan and Barcelona to make a move for Vidic at the end of the current campaign.

But the player's representitive Silvano Martina has refuted the claims.

"When a player is with a big club it is difficult to change, and then these rumours come out just a few days after the close of the transfer market. A contradiction, don't you think?" he said on calciomercato.com.

"There was nothing and I think that there won't be even in the future.

"It is a useless thing that, just because a player is injured or maybe doesn't play well, we are talking of a possible sale."
