Arshavin: Title dreams still alive

442 Staff - Tuesday 16 February 2010, 14:12

Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin believes Arsenal can still win the Premier League following last week's win against Liverpool - despite recent defeats to title rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

Abou Diaby's goal against the Merseysiders at Emirates Stadium - combined with Chelsea's defeat to Everton and the Red Devils' draw at Aston Villa - reduced the gap between the third-placed Gunners and the summit to six points.

And diminutive Russian Arshavin - who will miss Arsenal's Champions League last 16 tie with Porto on Wednesday through injury - insists he has not yet given up hope of landing his maiden Premier League crown and the club's first trophy since 2005.

“I still believe that we can win the league, but recent games have made it more difficult for my dreams to come true,” the 28-year-old told thesportreview.com.

Having been at Arsenal for a little more than a year, Arshavin now believes he has adapted to the English game but stresses that he came to London to win trophies.

“My adaptation to English football has been good, but I want to win something.”

“I’m on good terms with everybody in the team, but you will always be closer with some people compared to others. I would say my best friends in the squad are Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Nicklas Bendtner.”
