The Argentine front-man has been in devastating form for the Rossoblu since arriving from Real Zaragoza last summer, netting 16 league goals to keep the club in contention for Champions League qualification next season.
Both Tottenham and Juventus have already been touted as possible destinations for the 29-year-old, who scored 33 Serie A goals in 59 appearances in a previous spell with Genoa.
However, club president, Enrico Preziosi has confirmed that initial talks have already taken place between Milito and Jose Mourinho's side over a potential transfer to the San Siro.
"Milito has a deal with Genoa but we cannot pay him anymore than we do now," Preziosi told Corriere dello Sport.
"If Inter offer more money we will not be able to compete. We can only pay what we do now.
"If Inter, or anyone else, wants to buy Milito, they have not only to make an offer to the player but to Genoa as well.
"If we receive an interesting offer we will sit down and discuss it. But it will have to be an interesting offer for us."
