Vucinic linked with Premier League pair

442 Staff - Tuesday 30 June 2009, 14:46

Roma forward Mirko Vucinic is the subject of interest from several Premier League sides, according to the player's agent.

The 25-year-old Montenegro front-man has netted 22 league goals in 85 appearances for the Stadio Olimpico outfit since arriving from Lecce in 2006, and bagged a brace in a 3-1 win against Chelsea in the Champions League last season.

And the 6ft 1in striker, who has scored six goals in 12 international outings for Montenegro since the nation split from Serbia, is now being linked with a move away from Luciano Spalletti's Serie A side, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly keen on acquiring him.

The likelihood of him leaving the Italian capital before the start of next season has increased after Vucinic's agent, Alessandro Lucci, revealed that there is interest from England in the striker's services.

However, with the forward having only recently signed a new deal with the Romans, any offer to prise him away would need to be a sizeable one.

"There are interests, especially from Premier League clubs, but no-one has officially contacted me," Lucci told romanews.eu.

"Mirko is very happy to remain at Roma. He recently renewed his contract.

"He is happy, the club is satisfied and hence, there are no reasons to consider Vucinic away from Roma.

"The club has never told me anything regarding any offers, but they did tell me they want to keep all the important players and Vucinic is one of them."
