Juve set to swoop for Eboue

Serie A giants Juventus will make a move for Arsenal wide-man Emmanuel Eboue in January, according to reports.

The 26-year-old, who has made 102 league appearances for the Gunners, endured an eventful 2008/09, famously being booed by his own supporters in a home encounter against Wigan, with the substitiute eventually having to be replaced before full-time.

Eboue made 28 Premier League outings last season, but they were increasingly as a substitute as the season progressed.

And with the 2010 World Cup in South Africa on the horizon, the Ivory Coast international revealed earlier this summer that he may be forced to move on in order to play regular first-team football ahead of next year's global showpiece.

Despite reports linking him with moves to Juventus, Fiorentina and Atletico Madrid, a move failed to materialise for Eboue, and instead he has seen himself start seven games for the Gunners in 2009/10.

However, according to Tuttosport, the Old Lady are still set to make a move for the midfielder during the winter transfer window, with Eboue's Belgian passport meaning he would not count as a non-EU member of the squad.

Meanwhile, speaking ahead of his side's Champions League tie in Holland against AZ Alkmaar, Eboue has thanked Arsenal's fans for their patience with him, and insisted that he is now happy again in North London.

"I want to say thank you to my boss and the fans because they help me a lot," he told Sky Sports.

"I was very disappointed with my performance last season, but now I feel I am doing very well.

"I want to give my best when I play for myself and the fans."
