Bari miss chance to go sixth

442 Staff - Wednesday 20 January 2010, 21:55

MILAN - Bari missed the chance to move up to sixth in Serie A when they drew 1-1 at Genoa in a bad-tempered match on Wednesday.

Promoted Bari, who used their attractive brand of football to draw 2-2 with leaders Inter Milan at the weekend, went ahead after four minutes through in-form striker Paulo Barreto but Genoa protested he had used an arm.

Omar Milanetto equalised early in the second period for the mid-table hosts, who had to postpone the original game in December because of snow.

Atalanta continued their revival under new coach Bortolo Mutti by coming from two down to draw 2-2 at fellow strugglers Bologna in another rearranged match.

Home striker Marco Di Vaio scored twice in the first half but a Thomas Manfredini header and a cracking strike from Uruguayan striker Ernesto Chevanton sealed the draw.
