ROME - Inter Milan forward Mario
Balotelli's fine for provoking Chievo Verona fans last month has
been reduced on appeal from 7,000 to 2,000 euros, the Italian Football Federation said on Friday.
The Italy under-21 international, who is of Ghanaian descent
and has often suffered racist abuse, was penalised for clapping
at home fans when being substituted during Inter's 1-0 win.
Balotelli, who created the goal, said he was responding to
racist boos and some commentators were surprised he was fined.
Chievo were not punished for their fans' behaviour.
