ROME - Juventus president Jean-Claude
Blanc and previous incumbent Giovanni Cobolli Gigli are being
probed as part of an investigation into the Turin club's taxes.
The Serie A club said in a statement on Thursday that the
move was standard practice for an investigation of this kind
regarding possible irregularities in value added tax payments.
"The club states that the previous president, Giovanni
Cobolli Gigli, and the current one, Jean-Claude Blanc, in
January 2010 received an invitation to appear before the Turin
Prosecutors' Department to illustrate their position regarding
the hypothesis of tax offences over disputed VAT for the tax
years 2005, 2006 and 2007," Juventus said.
"The club and their managers can declare that they have
always observed the law and sporting regulations," Juve added in
the statement posted on their website.
