Striker Kris Boyd said on Sunday he would not play for Scotland again as long as George Burley remains the national team manager.

Boyd, 25, who has scored seven times in 15 appearances for his country, was an unused substitute during their 0-0 draw with Norway in their Group Nine World Cup qualifying match at Hampden Park on Saturday.

He told BBC Scotland on Sunday he had informed both Burley and Scottish FA chief executive Gordon Smith of his decision.

"I left a message on George Burley's phone last night," said the Rangers striker.

"I didn't think just leaving a message was very professional, so I spoke with Gordon Smith and informed him of my decision too."

However, Boyd says he would like to play for Scotland again in the future.

"I will not be playing for George Burley again, but I hope to be back in a Scotland jersey again one day."

He has played just 28 minutes of the six games Scotland have played since Burley took charge of the team in January.

Scotland are second in their group behind the Netherlands but do not play another qualifier until they meet the Dutch in March.
