Blanc keen for Chamakh conclusion

442 Staff - Monday 06 July 2009, 17:48

Bordeaux boss Laurent Blanc hopes that the future of star striker Marouane Chamakh can be concluded quickly as the new Ligue 1 season edges nearer.

The Moroccan front-man netted 13 league goals in 2008/09 to help secure a first domestic crown in 10 years for les Girondins.

As a result, he has been continually linked with a move abroad, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland all reportedly interested in acquiring his services.

Any deal with the Gunners appears to hinge on whether Togolese front-man Emmanuel Adebayor departs the Emirates Stadium this summer, while Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud has rubbished reports linking Chamakh with Sunderland.

And former Manchester United and Inter Milan defender Blanc says he is hoping that any deal for the player can be concluded quickly before Bordeaux set off on their pre-season trip to Canada on July 22.

"It must happen quickly," he said.

"If Marouane comes with us to Montreal there will be a good chance he'll spend the season with Bordeaux."
