Toni issues Bayern ultimatum

The 32-year-old has netted 38 league goals in just 56 outings for the German giants since arriving in 2007, having bagged 47 and 50 league goals for previous clubs Fiorentina and Palermo respectively.

The prolific Italian - who is currently recovering from injury - was believed to be concerned about his first-team opportunities at the Allianz Arena earlier this summer following the arrival of Van Gaal and strikers Mario Gomez and Ivica Olic.

And as a result, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham were linked with a move for the front-man, with Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola also tipped to land Eidur Gudjohnsen and Mario Balotelli before eventually signing Alessandro Diamanti from Livorno.

But Toni has now spoken out about his future at the Bundesliga giants, insisting he will move on during the January transfer window if his services are not utilised sufficiently in the meantime.

"I am aware of my own qualities and so are a number of teams," he told Kicker.

"I will consider my future at the club in case I do not get a chance to prove my worth. I will have a look at what other teams have to offer if I do not get regular first team football.

"First, I need to get fully match fit, though. I am not afraid of the competition for a starting berth when I am fully match fit again. I do not mind starting from the bench in the upcoming weeks in order to get match rhythm again after my injury."
