Honda signs for CSKA Moscow

Reuters - Friday 01 January 2010, 15:50

MOSCOW - Japan midfielder Keisuke Honda has joined Champions League contenders CSKA Moscow on a four-year contract, the club said on their website on Friday.

Honda, 23, will be the first Japanese to play in Russia's Premier League after completing a move from Dutch side VVV Venlo. According to media reports, the transfer fee was nine million euros.

CSKA finished fifth in the Premier League last season and the new campaign starts in March. The Moscow club meet Sevilla in the Champions League first knockout round next month.
