Dussuyer sacked by Benin

Reuters - Saturday 06 February 2010, 20:59

COTONOU - Benin have sacked French coach Michel Dussuyer following their poor performance in last month's African Nations Cup, the national soccer federation said in a statement.

Dussuyer's team lost two and drew one of their three matches at the tournament in Angola.

He had been to the Nations Cup before as coach of Guinea in 2004, leading them to the quarter-finals, and as assistant to fellow countryman Henri Michel when Ivory Coast were runners-up two years later.

Dussuyer also coached French club Cannes in between his African assignments.

Last month's tournament was won by Egypt.
