BUENOS AIRES - Boca Juniors and former Argentina playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme will be out for up to 40 days after suffering a foot injury, his club said on Thursday.

Riquelme came off injured in Thursday's 3-0 home win over Chacarita Juniors in the Argentine Apertura championship which Boca won 3-0 to go ninth in the standings five points behind leaders Estudiantes.

Boca's improving arch-rivals River Plate climbed to 14th, 13 points off the pace, with a 2-1 win at Argentinos Juniors, their first victory in nine matches and first away in 17.
