Freddie flattered by transfer rumours

442 Staff - Tuesday 24 March 2009, 17:49

Sevilla striker Frédéric Kanoute says he is flattered by reports linking him with an end-of-season move to AC Milan.

The latest round of rumours claim that the former West Ham and Tottenham forward is set to be the subject of a summer move involving the San Siro giants.

While several Premier League sides are believed to be interested in bringing the powerful forward back to English shores.

The Mali international has almost single-handedly kept Sevilla in contention for Champions League qualification this season, with his 15 league goals helping the Andalucians remain third in the La Liga table, 15 points behind leaders Barcelona.

And the 31-year-old, who will only have a year remaining on his contract at the end of the season, admits he is flattered that high-profile sides such as Milan are still interested in securing his services.

"I am aware of all this transfer talk," Kanoute told skysports.com. "My ambition has always been to play for a big and quality team and to be linked to Milan is a fantastic feeling.

"I always said I like Sevilla, the quality of life is fantastic and I love the place. I feel very good here, but you never know.

"I am 31 years old now so who knows, but the link with Milan is fantastic. This is one of the biggest teams with so many wonderful footballers.

"When you think about the chances you will get in games, you can just dream, we should wait until the end of the season."
