Marquez undergoes successful knee surgery

Reuters - Saturday 02 May 2009, 18:10

MADRID - Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez had successful surgery on his left knee on Saturday to repair the damage he suffered in the Champions League semi-final first leg against Chelsea in midweek, the club said.

The Mexican international is likely to be fit again in about three months in time for pre-season training, the Primera Liga leaders said on their website on Saturday.

Barca's Argentine defender Gabriel Milito, who has been out for a year with a knee problem, should also be back in time for pre-season, the club added.
