Ribery undergoes groin surgery

JOHANNESBURG - France playmaker Franck Ribery will undergo groin surgery on Friday, a team spokesman said on Thursday.

The player was to leave South Africa on a plane chartered by his Bayern Munich club and would be operated on in Munich, the spokesman added.

France were eliminated after the group stage with just one point and one goal from three matches.
