Diaby to miss Ireland rematch

Reuters - Monday 16 November 2009, 14:59

PARIS - Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has been ruled out of France's World Cup play-off against Ireland in Paris on Wednesday through injury, the French football federation (FFF) said on Monday.

Diaby will not be replaced in the squad, the FFF said on its website, without specifying the nature of the injury.

Defender Eric Abidal and midfielder Jeremy Toulalan have also pulled out injured from the Stade de France showdown.

France are well placed to make next year's finals in South Africa after beating Ireland at Croke Park on Saturday.
