SEOUL - Next month's East Asian championships will be no gentle run-out for South Korea's
players after coach Huh Jung-moo told them it would be a last
chance to stake a claim for a World Cup spot.
Announcing his 23-member squad for the February 7-14 EAFF
Championship tournament in Tokyo, Huh kept the door open for
K-League players saying he has a good idea of the FIFA World
Cup squad but it could still change.
"Even though I have a good idea of what the final roster
for the FIFA World Cup will look like, it could still change,"
he told the Asian Football Confederation website.
"It will be the last chance to test the K-League players."
The 55-year-old has recalled Lee Keun-ho and Kwak Tae-hwi
who both play for Japanese teams, Jubilo Iwata and Kyoto Sanga.
Lee, 24, has 27 international caps and eight goals while
28-year-old Kwak has netted three goals in eight matches for
the national team.
The defending champions will meet Hong Kong on February 7,
China on February 10 and hosts Japan on February 14.
The June 11-July 11 World Cup is taking place in South
Africa.
