Besides FourFourTwo, Matthew Walthert has written for The Globe and Mail, The Athletic and VICE, among other publications. Although he is from Ottawa, Canada, his football speciality is the Schwiizer Nati. In a brief, undistinguished youth career, he played for the same club that later produced Jonathan David. His first book, Scotty Davidson: The Extraordinary Life and Mysterious Death of Canada's Forgotten Hockey Hero, will be published in fall 2026.
