Looking for an Aston Villa vs Brentford live stream? We've got you covered.

A 3-0 defeat by Fulham on Thursday night proved to be Steven Gerrard's last game in charge of Villa. The club acted swiftly in the wake of that defeat, dismissing the former Rangers head coach just hours after the final whistle at Craven Cottage.

Gerrard will no doubt believe he could have turned the situation around, but he seemed to have lost the support of the majority of the Villa fan base by the end.

The club has made little progress in the last 12 months, despite spending large sums on new players. Villa certainly did not expect to be outside the drop zone on goal difference alone at this stage of the campaign.

Brentford held Chelsea to a goalless draw in the midweek round of fixtures, which made it two clean sheets on the bounce after a 2-0 victory over Brighton a few days earlier. Thomas Frank's side are now up to 10th in the table after losing just three of their first 11 matches.

Frank is one of the names who has been linked with the Villa job in recent days. Brentford are desperate to tie the Dane down to a new deal, but Villa could make an approach for him if they are unable to persuade Mauricio Pochettino, their top target, to succeed Gerrard.

Team news

Villa have been handed a boost after Douglas Luiz's midweek red card was overturned, allowing the Brazilian to start this game. Caretaker boss Aaron Danks has made two changes to the side which started against Fulham: Matty Cash and Emi Buendia come in for Jan Bednarek and captain John McGinn; goalkeeper Emi Martinez takes the armband.

Brentford, meanwhile, make just the one change to the starting 11 from Wednesday night: Kristoffer Ajer comes in for Ben Mee at the back.

VPN guide

Use a VPN to watch Premier League football from outside your country

If you’re out of the country for a round of Premier League fixtures, then annoyingly your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows where you are because of your IP address (boo!). You'll be blocked from watching it, which is not ideal if you’ve paid up for a subscription and still want to catch the action without resorting to illegal feeds you’ve found on Reddit.

But assistance is on hand. To get around that, all you have to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and won't automatically block the service you've paid for. All the info going between is entirely encrypted – and that's a result.

There are plenty of good-value options out there, and FourFourTwo currently recommends:

ExpressVPN

ExpressVPN including a 30-day, money-back guarantee

FourFourTwo’s brainy office mates TechRadar love its super speedy connections, trustworthy security and the fact it works with Android, Apple, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, PS5 and loads more. You also get a money-back guarantee, 24/7 support and it's currently available for a knockdown price. Go get it!
