Bale pretty sure people are comparing him to Clayton Blackmore
Gareth Bale has admitted that he is '90 per cent' certain people in Spain are comparing him unfavourably to 1990s utility man Clayton Blackmore, reports Back of the Net...
After an impressive 2013/14 campaign, Bale’s relationship with the Real Madrid fans has soured during a tough season, and the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man has been heckled by angry supporters on multiple occasions. Having been labelled a ‘hijo de puta’ (son of a b****), ‘cabron’ (man who indulges in sexual relations with his mother) and ‘lechoso charlatan’ (milky charlatan), things have now taken on a more sinister dimension after Real’s Champions League defeat to Juventus on Wednesday evening.
“Angry fans surrounded my car and I’m pretty sure they were shouting something about me being a poor man’s Clayton Blackmore,” a downbeat Bale told FourFourTwo.
“I know they were speaking in the heat of the moment, but that hurts badly. If so, they crossed a line. It’s unacceptable to go yelling about Clayton Blackmore, especially when there are children around.
“I might be being paranoid, but wherever I go I hear the words ‘Clayton Blackmore’, ‘Clayton Blackmore’. I guess they could be saying ‘that persisting war-like tuna’ (que atún bélico mora), but that seems unlikely.”
FourFourTwo was able to track down one of the supporters who swarmed around Bale’s car outside Santiago Bernabeu, maliciously tweaking his wing-mirror ever so slightly askew.
“It’s [true]. I likened [him] to the creditable Man United and Middlesbrough stalwart,” says Angel Alvarado. “It was a moment of rage. I feel bad. I feel like a real Clayton Blackmore, as they say where I’m from.”
Another fan was unwilling to comment, instead voicing his opinion on a determined pugnacious tuna.
