Pep Guardiola's side have already secured their place in the last 16 with two games to spare, and a draw at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday would wrap up top spot in Group G for the outright favourites to win the Champions League.

City have won three of their four matches up to this point, including the reverse fixture against Borussia Dortmund. But their 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium last month was far from straightforward.

BVB held City at arm's length for most of the match and took the lead through Jude Bellingham, before two brilliant goals from John Stones and Erling Haaland turned the game on its head. However, those two strikes were City's first two shots on target, illustrating the success of Dortmund's defensive work against the Premier League champions.

City warmed up for this match with a routine 3-1 victory over Brighton on Saturday. Dortmund were also triumphant at the weekend, as Edin Terzic's charges thrashed Stuttgart 5-0. That was a welcome return to winning ways in the Bundesliga for BVB, who previously went three matches without a win.

City will have to make do without Kalvin Phillips and Kyle Walker for the trip to Germany, but John Stones is available for selection once more. Phil Foden is likely to return to the starting XI after beginning the Brighton match on the bench.

Dortmund will be unable to call upon the services of Sebastien Haller, Marco Reus, Mahmoud Dahoud and Thomas Meunier due to injury.

VPN guide

Use a VPN to watch Champions League football from outside your country

If you’re out of the country for a round of Champions League fixtures, then annoyingly your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows where you are because of your IP address (boo!). You'll be blocked from watching it, which is not ideal if you’ve paid up for a subscription and still want to catch the action without resorting to illegal feeds you’ve found on Reddit.

But assistance is on hand. To get around that, all you have to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and won't automatically block the service you've paid for. All the info going between is entirely encrypted – and that's a result.

There are plenty of good-value options out there, including:
