THEN TRY Quiz! Can you name every England player to go to a World Cup this century?

It's not a World Cup until you've seen the glistening gold of the Brazilian home shirt, blinding an opposition defender in the afternoon sun. The party doesn't start till they walk in.

But really, Brazil themselves haven't felt like Brazil for a while. It's 20 years this year since the Selecao last lifted the World Cup and in recent years, the South American giants have been less about the tricks and flicks and more about the woes and worries.

Granted, they defended their title in 2006 with a little more grace than anyone else has done in the 20th Century – France, Italy, Spain and Germany all crashed out in the group stage four years after winning it, while Brazil at least bowed out in the quarter-finals – but 2010 and 2018 saw two more last-eight disappointments. Are you England in disguise, lads?

In 2014, on home turf, they did at least make the semi-finals. But for all you Brazilians reading this, we'll spare repeating what happened.
