1998 was an exciting time to be an England fan. After failing to qualify for the 1994 World Cup, the Three Lions were back and roaring.
And Glenn Hoddle's men were one of the stronger teams at the tournament. Having won La Tournoi 12 months prior, this was a squad that was stacked with talent from the Premier League, leaving some big names at home.
While the Golden Generation were to come, this group of players might be more fondly remembered by England fans. OK, they only made a quarter-final but some of the performances they put in had the grit and guile that future sides couldn't match.
