NOW TRY Quiz! Can you name the Republic of Ireland line-up from the 1994 World Cup match against Norway?

After the glory of 1998, 2002 was a damp squib for the French. Three games and not a single goal in Japan and South Korea as the holders' curse begun in alarming fashion.

In 2010, they didn't even have the excuse of being champions as a reason for them being appallingly bad. Les Bleus dazzled in 2006, perhaps should have won the final but for moment of Zinedine Zidane madness – though Zizou's immediate retirement, with a brandish of that red card in Berlin extinguished some of the sparkle four years later.

This France side was a pale imitation of the one that came before. They would crash out of a group stage that most expected them to sail through and though they at least managed a goal this time around, they didn't do too much more of note.

We don't blame you if you don't remember the French's goalless opener against Uruguay from 2010 – can you guess all 14 players to feature in the game, though?
