Guardiola linked with Man City following Man City snub
After turning down Manchester City, Pep Guardiola might be on his way to Manchester City, reports Back of the Net...
Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has distanced himself from the Manchester City job, leading to fevered speculation that he may be poised to take the reins at Manchester City.
The ex-Barcelona boss has repeatedly stated his intention to see out his contract in Bavaria, which is widely understood to be a veiled 'come and get me' plea to Etihad executives.
Speaking yesterday, Guardiola said: "Joining Manchester City would make no sense for me at this stage in my career, or later in my career, or indeed for anyone at any time. There is no truth to these reports whatsoever. Please stop asking me about them."
Reacting to Guardiola's remarks, a media source said: "He keeps saying he's focused on Bayern Munich, that he doesn't want to leave Bayern Munich, that his family is happy in Munich, and that he wants to extend his contract in Munich. Something doesn't add up.
"Whenever Pep says something like, 'I would rather eat my own knees than listen to another question about Manchester City', nobody knows what he means.
"Is it a cryptic hint that he may soon be house-hunting in Alderley Edge? If I were Khaldoon Al Mubarak, I'd be ordering him 10 monogrammed tracksuits and a custom-made Porsche."
In other news, Barcelona boss Luis Enrique said that there is "zero per cent possibility" that Lionel Messi will be sold to Manchester City, meaning chances of a deal may be as low as fifty-fifty.
