Italy v Switzerland live stream: How to watch Euro 2020 wherever you are in the world
Watch an Italy v Switzerland live stream, as the Euro 2020 action continues apace
Italy v Switzerland live stream, ITV, Wednesday 16 June, 8pm BST
Italy will book their place in the knockout stage of Euro 2020 if they beat Switzerland on Wednesday.
Roberto Mancini’s side delivered arguably the performance of the tournament to date when they cruised to victory over Turkey on the opening night. The former Manchester City manager has modernised the Azzurri, bringing down the average age of the squad and encouraging a proactive, press-and-possess approach. They were utterly dominant against a disappointing Turkey team, and the confidence garnered from that victory will stand them in good stead ahead of this game.
Mancini is unlikely to tinker too much with his side, but Marco Verratti will probably start in midfield if he is passed fit in time to feature. Ciro Immobile arrived at Euro 2020 with doubts over whether he could step up, and his goal last Friday went some way to answering his critics. Another one here would be welcome for Italy, who will hope to win the European Championship for a record fourth time this summer.
Switzerland picked up a point against Wales on Saturday, but they were a little unfortunate that it was not all three. Vladimir Petkovic’s side were the better team for most of the game, although the manager’s decision to take off Xherdan Shaqiri in the second half backfired. Wales came back into the game thereafter, but Switzerland had still done enough over the 90 minutes to be disappointed with a draw.
The game plan will be different against Italy. Switzerland took the initiative and, for the most part, controlled possession against Wales, but that will not be possible when they face Mancini’s men. Breel Embolo, who impressed last time out, could be key in helping his team transition from defence to attack. The three-man backline of Manuel Akanji, Nico Elvedi and Fabian Schar will also be in for a busy evening.
Kick-off is at 8pm BST and the game is being shown on ITV/ITV Hub. See below for watching details where you are.
Use a VPN to watch an Italy v Switzerland live stream from outside your country
If you’re out of the country for any Euro 2020 fixtures, then annoyingly your domestic on-demand services won’t work – the broadcaster knows where you are because of your IP address (boo!). You'll be blocked from watching it, which is not ideal if you still want to catch Harry Kane's in-swinging corners without resorting to illegal feeds you’ve found on Reddit.
But assistance is on hand. To get around that, all you have to do is get a Virtual Private Network (VPN), assuming it complies with your broadcaster’s T&Cs. A VPN creates a private connection between your device and t'internet, meaning the service can’t work out where you are and won't automatically block the service you've paid for. All the info going between is entirely encrypted – and that's a result.
There are plenty of good-value options out there, including:
ExpressVPN including a 30-day, money-back guarantee
FourFourTwo’s brainy office mates TechRadar love its super speedy connections, trustworthy security and the fact it works with Android, Apple, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, PS4 and loads more. You also get a money-back guarantee, 24/7 support and it's currently available for a knockdown price. Go get it!
NordVPN with quality mobile and desktop apps
A cheaper option and almost ExpressVPN's equal when it comes to quality, too. A single subscription covers six connections, so you can use it on mobile, laptop, streaming devices and more, all at the same time.
Surfshark offers a great VPN at a fraction of the price
It's clear to see why Surfshark is top of TechRadar's best cheap VPN table – it combines an excellent product with bargain pricing, starting at £2/$2.50 a month!
